Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico Alentejo – Portugal

Founded in 2002, with the aim of uniting the winemaking heritage of the families of Alberto Orte and Patrick Mata, winemakers in Spain since the late 1800s, the Compañía de Vinos del Atlántico (CVA) produces wines in 18 different appellations within of the Iberian Peninsula.
CVA’s goal is to produce “elaborate” wines by hand that express the identity of the place they come from. Over the years, CVA has been looking for large vineyards that consistently produce superior wines than neighboring vineyards.
“Identifying autochthonous varieties from old vines in high altitude vineyards grown in balanced low-yielding soils is our main compass in selecting the raw material we use to produce our fine wines by hand”.
