Sipp Mack, a 9th generation family winery, currently run by Laura and Jacques Sipp with their daughter, Carolyn, is located at the top of the village.
The Sipp Mack winery was founded in 1959, following the marriage of two winemaking families, François Sipp from Ribeauvillé and Marie Louise Mack from Hunawihr. In 1983, after studying viticulture and enology, business school and working experience in American wineries for two years, his son Jacques returned to Alsace to join the family estate. He took his wife, Laura, a Californian graduate of the University of California Davis wine program with him.
Jacques and Laura brought a new vision to vineyard and cellar operations. Their desire to produce pure and consistently high quality wines that reflect their soils has led them to combine Alsatian traditions with modern technologies and production methods that protect the environment. After years of certified sustainable agriculture and integrated pest management, they have converted the entire company into certified organic agriculture.
Today, a new breeze flows through the family winery with the arrival of their daughter, Carolyn. Her dynamism and her creative ideas enrich and consolidate the artisanal approach to viticulture and winemaking.
Fifty percent of the wines produced are now available in various export markets. Despite relatively rapid changes, the estate has managed to maintain its family-oriented nature and appreciation of its rich heritage.
Sipp Mack vinifies all seven varieties of wines of the AOC Alsace appellation, Crémant d’Alsace, and wines from two Alsatian Grand Crus: Grand Cru Rosacker (Hunawihr) and Grand Cru Osterberg (Ribeauvillé). In excellent vintages, the company also produces Late Harvest wines.

Variety composition: 70% Pinot Bianco Auxerrois 30% Pinot Bianco.
Denomination: AOC Vin D’Alsace.
Soil: clayey essentially calcareous.
Vintage 2019: The August rains (45 mm in 3 days!) Were a blessing and the grapes ripened perfectly while maintaining a nice rich acidity. The use of slow and easy fermentations has maintained the complexity and character of each terroir. The quality of the 2019 wines is top notch.

Complexity: moderately complex
Description: floral, fruity and herbaceous
Observations: the sample opens with fresh floral notes reminiscent of fresh wild flowers, followed by hints of white-fleshed fruits such as apple and peach. Important citrus note of lemon. Close up of freshly mown grass.
Taste – olfactory examination
State of evolution: mature
Remarks: a fresh and easy to drink wine. It combines freshness and softness in perfect balance. Fresh and not particularly persistent finish.
