QUINTA DO PESSEGUEIRO – DOURO VALLEY – PORTUGAL

Quinta Do Pessegueiro, owned by Roger Zannier since 1991, is located in the Douro Valley in Portugal and spread over three plots – Teixera, Pessegueiro and Afurada. With an ideal climate and a selection of quality grapes, the wines reflect the particular originality of their terroir. The company is particularly attentive to sustainability and, respecting nature and the people who have forged the culture and values of the Douro, uses renewable sources for energy production.

Quinta Do Pessegueiro stands out for its remarkable architecture, deriving from the functions of the building and above all from the particular method of vinification it houses.

The building is spread over five levels and combines traditional methods of producing high quality wines, with the most sophisticated equipment. The cellar has been designed to use natural gravity, throughout the process of transforming grapes into wine. To preserve the wine, the use of pumps was totally forbidden all along the way from the reception of the grapes to the cellar, including the vinification in vats. The company uses a tank elevator that connects the different levels for exceptional movements during processing. This gravity process guarantees a delicate and respectful treatment of the wine.
