RUGGERI – VENETO – ITALY

The Ruggeri Winery was founded in 1950 by Giustino Bisol, whose family boasts a centuries-old tradition, as well as deep roots in the wine culture of the Valdobbiadene area. In the nineteenth century, Eliseo Bisol left documented traces of his activity as a distiller. Around 1920, his son Luigi, an oenologist, built a winery in Montebelluna. In 1950, Giustino Bisol, son of the previous one, founded the Ruggeri Winery in Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene, created to enhance the Prosecco Superiore and Cartizze wines with sparkling wine. The grapes of Prosecco Superiore DOCG are traditionally conferred by 120 winemakers, who own the vineyards in the municipality of Valdobbiadene, falling within the historic hamlets of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol. In addition, 25 of them also have Cartizze grapes, which have always been recognized as the qualitative apex of the entire denomination thanks to the favorable combination of climate, soil and sun exposure of the vineyards. In reference to this, Ruggeri is the private winery with the largest collection of grapes from this high and prestigious provenance. The presence of numerous old vines, sometimes very old, cultivated in the aforementioned historic hamlets of Valdobbiadene with an age between 80 and 100 years contributes to raise the quality of the Valdobbiadene vineyards. These vines, which can be defined as “the memory of the territory”, thanks to their important root system, are able to balance the most diverse climatic trends typical of the Valdobbiadene hills, ensuring high quality consistency year after year. To cope with a conspicuous harvest effort, the Ruggeri Winery is equipped for the treatment of grapes and in particular has two completely independent reception lines and 6 soft pressing presses, to ensure the separation of the various origins even in moments of greater influx.
