Alútiz

BODEGA ALÚTIZ – SPAIN – (Ph. Marta Pérez Angulo)

The company, respecting tradition, looks to the contemporary, having also introduced stainless steel storage tanks to produce white wines.
The vineyards are located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, south of Álava. From the estate’s vineyards you can see the Sierra de Cantabria to the north and the Sierra de Toloño to the south, bordered by the banks of the Ebro River.
The soils of the vineyard are of clayey limestone, protected by a temperate climate and protected from winds.
The young wines are still, as always, produced in the stone presses, where the whole family sets foot on the grapes.
In the Matarredo district at the entrance to Samaniego, there is a unique space, dotted with 85 holes dug into the rock for two centuries, 12 meters underground.
Alútiz ranges from the historic family cellars, through the concrete vats, to the most current cellar with an aging area.
