The history of the Contreras begins with Gregorio Contreras López, born in 1833, a farmer on his land, from which he collected his harvest for the production of wine and subsequent sale.
The story continues in 1949, with Gregorio’s son, Antonio Contreras Labrador, who, taking advantage of the growing demand for wines, invested in the purchase of nine estates and built new winemaking facilities.
The winery is located in the Condado de Huelva region. To the south and east it borders the Doñana National Park, virgin lands that block the Atlantic. The vineyards are located between 80-120 meters above sea level, with an annual rainfall of 550l/m2 and an average temperature of 16ºC, typical of a Mediterranean climate with oceanic influence.
