TENUTA Il PALAGIO 1530 – TUSCANY – ITALY

Tenuta Il Palagio is a farm of about 350 ha., located on the Florentine hills of Figline Valdarno, a step away from the heart of Chianti.
Established in 1530 as a private cellar of a noble Florentine family, Il Palagio, over the centuries, has become both a manor house and a wine and olive farm.
In 1997, Sting and his wife Trudie Styler bought the Palagio from Duke Simone Velluti Zati of San Clemente, restoring the main villa, the farmhouses belonging to it and the vineyards, also acquiring new ones to start the business of wine producers.
In the approximately 13 ha. of vineyards, typical grapes of the Tuscan tradition are produced Colorino, Canaiolo and Sangiovese and international grapes such as Cabernet S. and Merlot. The company also manages leased land where Vermentino is produced.
From summer 2020, Il Palagio boasts the collaboration, as oenologist, of Dr. Riccardo Cotarella.
The company also owns about 6,000 olive trees, from which extra virgin olive oil IGP, excellence of the territory, is obtained.
